AC D 14 regulator

AC D14 Positive Ground. Guage jumps around. Charges and stops charging. Have to keep polarizing. Had regulator and generator checked out and OK. Had engine rebuilt a couple of years ago and had trouble ever since.

make sure the belt is tight and correct pulley on generator. make sure regulator is grounded good to the frame.. if o.k., the regulator is the problem. YOu can try to polish the points and adjust ehe spring contacts... but easier to change regulator.

If the engine was painted, you may have a grounding problem.
