As in my prevous post 7045 was getting compression in radiator and coolant in the oil. I finaly got around to dropping the oil pan and attached my radiator compression tester and could see coolant coming down between the piston and liner on # 2 # 5 # 6 cylinders. I had just put a new head gasket in this tractor last year. So I thought there must be pitting on the liners and leaking through. I pulled the head and found that the gasket is blown between # 5 & # 6 and also partchaly between 2 & 3. I pulled # 6 liner and found no pitting. I am going to pull the rest of the liners and replace the seals. Can someone tell me what the liner protrusion is for this 426cid engine? Thats the only thing I can think of that its blowing head gaskets. If anybody has other ideas Id be glad to hear them. Im an IH mechanic and not too familiar with AC. Is there liner shims available for these? I had the head gone through and magna fluxed and resurfaced last year. Thanks for any help.

If I remember correctly, the protrusion is .006.

One other thing to be cautious on is con rod bolts, it was always recommended they be replaced and not reused.

It"s been thirty years since I fooled with one, so the memory could have failed just a little.
