Were there any propane e gleaner combines built. Found one that seems to be original but not sure if they made any. If so, are they any different from gas engines, thanks ken.

According to the book I have (Allis-Chalmers Farm Equipment by Norm Swinford) doesn't show a propane version available for the Gleaner E. It does say however that the gas engine was the same as the D17 tractor, so might be possible someone put an LP conversion kit on the combine.

I worked at a Allis dealer YEARS ago. Normally Allis engines set-up for LP had a higher compression ratio sleeve kit than a gasoline engine. I know there were factory LP WD-45's. Check the brand of the LP carb. and evaporator/demand regulator. If they a ENSIGN brand, now defunct, it is original factory set-up. I have a C-II Gleaner with a G-262 Power unit that is LP and I almost bought a Gleaner Model A that was LP. I with I could find a usable set of LP pistons for a ALLIS G-230 power unit. The LP piston were also sometimes call High Altitude pistons.

I will look to see what brand they are, the number on the side of the block 17-66775-Z if that would help, thanks ken.
