D17 ingnition switch wiring

D17 series I gas--ignition switch is wore out, replacing it with a "universal" switch from TSC. The stock switch has three connections:
-Ign
-ACC
-Sol
Universal has four:
-Ign
-Acc
-Starter
-Bat
Im thinking, Ign-Ign, Acc-Acc, Sol-Starter, leave Bat unused?
Thanks

I agree BAT is usually the hot input voltage terminal. Ign wires to coil,,,,,,,,Sol to activate the solenoid (its small s terminal)

The terms SOL and Starter may be for the same purpose on those different brand of switches

At this moment, I am holding a switch from a D17 in my hand. On the back side, I see a terminal marked SOL at the upper left - goes to solinoid. Clockwise to upper right I find ACC with no terminal attached. Further clockwise lower right I find BAT terminal - goes to battery. And further clockwise to lower left, I find IGN which goes to the coil. A generic starter-ignition switch should work fine, just ignore the ACC terminal.

ALL ignition switches have to have a batt. connection on them or you will have a machine that will never run since you have to have zap-u-trons going to the starter to turn it over and also have to have them to the coil for spark. I'll bet your just not seeing that one terminal on your old switch but it has to be there even if not marked that way

Sorry guys, the 4th tab on the old switch had broken off apparently. It was so dirty and corroded that i couldnt see. Anyway, easy swap out.
Thanks
