can't get magnito to reach gear

I have a 1941 ac modle b and I can't get the maginto to reach the gear that turns it. The ears on it seem to be about 5/8 of an inch short from sliding into the slot. I have called around and I seem to have the right mag. Any and all ideas will be a big help. Thanks

has your governor gear in moved foward? are all parts of governor properly installed as to not let governor gear move foward? just my thoughts. good luck, d.coleman

you can scale this drawing of the mag and see if it is close. you should have a FMX or FMJ mag on your tractor ??? Most would fit, i would guess that the mag distance is a standard on MOST mags. I dont have the depth of the gear inside the motor housing. Was this running or did you take apart and repair ?????

If you have that wide of distance the governor shaft would have pushed out the front of the governor cover.

sure you didn't forget the bakelite connector with notches one side and notches 90 degrees on other side
