A-C event 11th Sept 2010 below sea level.

Thank you very much for sharing.
Is that area really below sea level? How much?
Amazing predominance of dual fuel manifolds, fuel tanks, and early diesels. Has Europe always preferred/demanded heavier fueled engines.Or was it of necessity somehow? Two WD45 diesels in one place! Barely 10 years after WWII. Makes me wonder who/how they were paid for. Subsidized by US maybe? Subsidized by the Dutch gov't?
Fascinating ! Thanks again.

The Beemsterpolder is average 3.80 mtr below sea level.
See:http://www.beemsterinfo.nl/index_04.htm

Europe used heavier fuels due high taxes on gasoline ,and better fuel efficiecy from diesel engines.
The majority of A-C tractors and implements came to Holland 1948-1952
This was related to the Marshall E.R.P. (European recovery program)
Remember that my father started with an A-C B 1949or 1950 he also bought an Allcrop 60 combine used till 1961. This equipment was available at low prices . 1952 the model B was traded in for a model CA that performed far better and was used till 1971 . The CA worked between 900 and 1000hrs yearly till 1960,when a second tractor (diesel) was added for all the work .
Between 1953-1957 3 WD45 diesels were imported . My uncle who was a contractor had 2 of these, don't know what he paid ,and don't know what happened with these tractors.

If my math is correct, that's over 10 feet of water. I'm still fascinated. I'd love to be able to travel and see that. At least this modern technology allows me a little glimpse of the world.
Thanks again
