I have a 2800 diesel out if a combine I have put into a tractor, where should the timimg be set and what should the static compression be? Thanks

Compression in that engine would be 16.25:1 if it is like the 2800 engines in the tractors. As for the timing, it will vary by the type of injection pump you have, as some injection pumps were static timing and some had automatic advances in them. I don't know the timing for either off the top of my head.

Heck,

I'd leave that timing right where it is and put 'er to work.

If it starts and runs properly, the compression is okay. It takes somewhere in the neighborhood of 275 lbs for a diesel to pop.
