AC small square balers

There is an auction combine up, from the road I saw a AC small square baler. It looked to be clean, sheded for the most part. I was wondering how good theses balers are, what they are worth, and how easy it will be to get parts form AGCO?

Thanks guys I really appreciate it!!!!

CRS says the first one was a model 308. Rule of thumb, never buy the first model of something that they never made before- like my 1960 Chevrolet Corvair! Now, if you want to make hay with old equipment, stick with JD and NH. Reliability, good design, parts support. All others are behind them on the list. Parade unit- ....vs working that you can get parts for? Actually, there won"t be many nostalgic ones along the parade route! There might be some disgruntled ones, but not too many that are just gruntled when they see it go by.

I think the model no. is 303. I had one- wasn't very impressed- pretty low capacity due to very poor feed mechanism (to get the hay from the back of the pickup into the chamber). You'll be a lot happier with a NH or JD.

Add to the list IH balers a lot were used in my area I had a 435 and it will bale hay with the best of them NH were very good but I would stay away of jd don't seem to tie very weel when pushed.

I have a 303 baler that works very well. It took me a little while to learn how to run it well. The operators manual is very helpful. the baler ties very reliably with plastic twine if the heavier twine is used. It is important to get the twine holders set right so they let the twine slip as the knot is formed. The other critical thing is that the bill hooks hold the twine tight enough so the knots are pulled tight and don't slip. The knotters are the same as New Holland which are some of the best.

The 303 was a great baler, dad worked for a guy that would bale tons of hay a day, he would bale over 3 loads an hourm roughly 350 bales an hour. We now have this baler and did some baling with it last summer, and it tied good considering it has not been used for a good 20 years.
