I have the clutch off, and would like to clean it up. I was wondering what i could use. It's mostly covered with caked on dirt. thanks

My father always cleaned oily brake shoes with hot water, tide detergent and a good stiff scrub brush. Unless they were extremely oil soaked they would clean up nice and work well again. I don't see why that wouldn't work for a slightly oily clutch disc either. Considering what a job it is to change it again it would be best to replace them if the price is reasonable.

Brake Parts cleaner works well...may need to do it in a pan and brush it ..Evaporates quickly and removes oil residue completely..

I would probably start with a little gas in the pan, to get the worst of the oil out..
Kerosene, if you not so inclined....

Works on brake linings too...

Ron.
