AC 40 tractor

I looked through the archives for info on an AC 40 tractor but found nothing. Does anyone know of such a model? Apparently it's quite unusual. My FIL saw one at a show once and said he'd never heard of that model or ever seen one before. Can anyone enlighten me (him) about this model AC tractor? I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to AC. Photos would be appreciated. Thanks.

ED-40 made in Essendine, England.
A few were imported to North America.
They had a Diesel engine made by Standard of Great Britain (same as early Massey 35 Diesel).

It was probably a model ED-40. It was a tractor that was meant primarily for the Canadian market. It was only made in 1963, and because of that, it is likely that not many were made, so it is probably somewhat rare. It was equipped with a 138 CID diesel engine with heater plug equipment for cold weather starting, Cat. I three point hitch, eight overlapping forward speeds and two reverse speeds. I do not know what the reason was that AC designed this tractor for just the Canadian market, or why it was only made for only one year. Maybe someone else here can enlighten us.

Thanks for the replies. I was aware of the ED 40 but my FIL says the tractor he saw (there were actually two of them at this show) simply said "40" and this would have been an earlier tractor from the 40s, I'm guessing. He said it had a decal on the side that just said "40" instead of WD-40, or something like that. Perhaps it was an ED-40 but according to him it was not. Any other ideas?

there was an I-40 made in the mid 1960s that is basically an industrial version of the D10-12 farm tractor. There was no model 40 from the 40s or 50s.
