:( We have just bought a Allis 180 Diesel with a loader on it. The seller told us that the trans kicks out of gear when it is free wheeling. Is this a normal problem with this tractor? And what can we do about it. Please help me. [email protected] Thanks

If it jumps out of 7an 8th gear you might be able to fix the shifting rail so it will go into gear further. We had this with are 180 and this took care of the prolem. If its another gear that it jumps out of I don't have any answers except replacing parts.

Thank you for the reply. It looks like we can just open the top and see what is wrong. Is that how to get in there? Itis 7-8th gear that jumps out.

Yea just unbolt the whole plate the shifter is on and the forks are connected on the bottom side of that. At the "tines" of the fork it should be built up in a rectangular shape. Those could be worn down on your 4th gear fork or it could be the gears themselves. 7th and 8th gear should be the smallest gears and they should be towards the rear of the tractor. Look at the front of the gears where the sleeve couples the gears. If the tines of the fork arent damaged then front of the gears should be. I have had worn tines and just welded them up. Hopefully thats all your problem is otherwise get ready to do some work. Anyother questions just ask all help to the best of my knowledge
