Looking for someone to tell me a little about a Diesel D17 with a loader on it. I have a D17 that has been with a friend of mine being rebuilt over the past couple of years so I know a little about D17's but haven't used mine much. Saturday I picked up a D17 diesel with a loader on it for $3000. Runs good, strong loader. Appears to be newer than my 59 model, owner said "about a 65". This thing instead of hand clutch on right is on the left and instead of pulling back to go into low range it goes into reverse! Pretty cool except I don't think it has a low range. Also the front wheel hubs are 8 lug. I was wondering if this thing was some sort of special heavy duty model made for the loader. Thanks for any info.

Sounds like the industrial version with the shuttle clutch instead of Power Director- you cannot get both in one tractor- they occupy the same space. Lots of them were forklifts.

If yo do any heavy lifting with it you'll get pretty darn good at changing front wheel bearings. Especially if you put bigger tires on the front like ours
