its a 4 speed but only works in 1,2,reverse.in 3,4, still in gear but only goes a fast as 2 gear.what do i look for?also its a foklift(gladden-haas)so it runs with the drive tires in the front. thanks for any help

3rd and 4th are hard to find in them trannys so I'll bet you just haven't held your mouth right yet which is what it takes to get into 3rd and 4th. Plus standing on one leg and dancing helps some times. LOL

thank you. some times they do work and runs pretty fast.i just thought there might be something wrong.thanks for your time

The reason I under stand the problem is because I have a W speed patrol which uses a WC tractor as its power unit and it can be fun at times to find 3rd and 4th in it

do not know why you have problems finding 3rd and 4th gear in a wc.unless your shifter is wore out or loose. never have a problem getting either one of mine into 3rd or 4th.

Well this one I have has been that way for decades and that is how it has always been and I have been told by others it is a common thing with the WC

The WC transmission has a lever and rod issue- I think that is what old refers to. Many times, the inside of the tranny is missing a link and spring. Originally, when you moved the shift lever to the right, you hit a "stop". Forward of that was third, below was fourth gear. To get to reverse, you activated a lever on the shift, and the shift lever went farther to the right, and moving it down, went into reverse. You might need to rebuild the tower, and get inside to see if the washer, spring, and link are there. Then, it works right, and you can find all of the gears.

They're no diffrent than a truck transmission. I hope I work so good when I'm 60+! Like the others said, the shift tower needs overhauled.

if i need to rebuild the shift tower what parts will i need?where can i get them?the shifter does not have the little rod running down it.and it is pretty loose.thank you all for the info and your time.
