i have a allis 190 gas, with a 265 ( g2500 ) that has a bad engine.. i purchased a replacement engine, which was supposed to be a 265, but ended up being a 262 ( gas as well ). Can someone tell me if the 262 will fit in place of the 265 ?? thanks

By "fit" I assume you mean bolt in? If so I seriously doubt it as the 262 is an old Buda design while the 265 was one of the new family of engines that includes the 301. I know the 301 wont interchange with a 262 so I doubt if a 265 will either. There are 301 gas egines also and they should also be a bolt in affair.

Yup, ask it how it feels. Now, as with the other articles in this series one has to be able to hear what 'ole blue' is trying to say in response. The nice thing about our old iron friends is that they are usually quite consistent in their response, rather unlike some people I know who might change what they say due to the weather or other mitigating circumstances.
