dwell tach conversion for ce engine

Is there a formula I can use to read the rpm of '41C w/ CE engine. My dwell-tach is almost as old as the tractor but only reads for 6 or 8 cyl engines. I don't think reading for 8cyl and dividing by 2 is correct. Any Help?

i think that might work from 8 cyl to 4, but you might have to multiply by 2, not divide. Also the 125 motor as a magnito? that might be a problme if your meter is looking for a distributor ignition.

Yes, I should have said multiply. Pulling off the "kill" point and a ground, at X2 I seem to be pretty close at idle and about 1200 at max rpm. I am probably not fine tuned enough to get the target 1500. THX!
