B exhaust question

I just got a "B", 1948 and it had the muffler just stuck in the exhaust manifold. It appears that there should be a bushing between the muffler and the exhaust manifold. Is it something you can buy or should I have one made up?
Thanks for any information,
David

that is a common problem with the B. many aftermarket mufflers fit poorly. i have taken a 1-1/4 inch pipe nipple and threaded into the manifold and let it stick up 2 inches, then slide the muffler over that nipple and clamp it. i have also made a nipple on the lathe that is not threaded, just taps into the manifold (you can use the threaded hole to anchor it if needed), then turn the nipple slightly smaller on the exposed part so the muffler will slide over it. you can then use a regular muffler c-clamp.
