Any body else has had there arm broke from a hand start? This is what I get for being lazy and not cranking it the right way. I always pull from the side and always from the top. Was in a hurry to finish mowing and cranked from the front with both hands fired and came back around and smacked my arm. Clean break. Just a reminder please be careful on them old hand cranks. Thats why I like JD flywheel hand cranks

Sorry to hear you got bit.
JD did have one good idea.

I never had anything broken but I will tell you that a Case C model will flip you over if you catch it wrong.

Didn't I warn you about that problem. Sorry to here it got you and now you will not be mowing for a while. Live and learn and I guess you learned how not to do it.

I am still going to mow. I have brush hog job that I have to load my ford 4000 on the trailer. This is going to be fun! One hand is better then none

Sorry to hear about your arm. I almost got it with an old one cylinder engine years ago.

Remember to always pull up on the crank and have your thumb on the same side of the handle with the rest of your fingers.

If you push down on the crank your hand can slip off and the crank will come around and get your jaw. That would be worse than a broken arm.

These are just some rules to live by around the old tractors and engines.

Ya I know what you mean BTDT on a B I had a long time ago. It didn't brake my arm but it sure did a number on it any how and had to wear a brace for a couple months. Right now I have been having a problem with my right arm and get to go to the V.A. hospital the end of June to have it looked at

Which VA do you go to? I go to the one in Columbus Ohio. VA has helped me out alot. I got laid off from the railroad and the va is paying to send through roadmaster to get my cdl and crane operator school. was suppossed to start june 8th but cant start now

I go to Columbia MO some of the time but mostly to the clinic they have in my home town. I hate the 100 mile drive to Columbia but some times I have to because the clinic has very little equipment to do any thing for a vet.

when i was around 6 yrs old my dad hand crank started a to20 he forgot to take it out of first gear and she fired up and went threw the shed door luckily he was young at the time and leaped up on the hood to get out of the way.RICK
