Just had my generator rebuilt. Wiring is stock, 3 position light/charge switch, new solid state cut-out relay. The generator has a 3rd brush that is adjustable. I am not sure how to properly set the output of the generator. Should I set it at a max of 13 amps, or should I set it at a certain voltage? I don't want to fry the new generator with too much output, but want the battery to charge properly.

My I&T manual says hot output amps 10 to 13 and 7.4 to 7.7 volts @ 2200rpm. I guessing that's actual generator rpm since the engine's working rpms are 1400. When you make your adjustments, be sure the battery is good and it's fully charged.

when i set the generator output i have all the lights on and engine at full throttle, i then set it so that it is holding it's own on keeping the battery charged.
