I was wandering how long of a bare a CA would handel 7ft or less or is ther a chance it would run 9ft I got a 9ft on a sail and it will go on the CA with out modifing any thing or am I just going to slip the clutch
thanks Thomas

The word "bare" has me stumped. I've never heard it before. From the rest of your message, it would seem you refer to a sickle mower. Right or wrong?

If that is correct, the issue is what are you cutting? If it is mid western hay, I would think that would not be a problem. If it is Texas native grass, 7 foot is a problem not because of the power the tractor has but the strength of the mower. Since you bought the mower, someone in your area must have used it so you should be ok. If there is a problem, it should be simple enough to shorten the bar and sickle by two feet.

9 ft is a long bar for a CA. normally a 7 ft is best. like Denny, i say try it, then cut the bar if its too long.

I think the nine foot cutter bar is going to cause enough side drag to give you problems. Weight of tractor needs to be taken into consideration as well as HP. I seem to remember the Allis dealer having a seven foot rear mount on his CA. He mowed right along with it

I have a #7 mower that has a 7 ft bar on it. That is a lot of weight to hang on the rear of a CA. The CA handles it fine, just the front end is very light when you raise it up.

I cant spell yes a sickle mower is what I was talking about I bought the mower to put on the 880 Oliver which is nero front and the tires are set out and I was hoping to get 8ft cut out of it so shortning the bar is not an option I am not seting the tires in becous it is hills that I am bailing but I have to put a cylender on the mower some how to rase the bar that is going to take some figuring out to do I am hoping for hevy clover but that is probly not going to be the case more like thick orchard grass with clover in it if I am lucky
Thanks Thomas

Years ago we pulled a semi mounted 7 footer and had no trouble at all. If you think the front will be a little light add some weights.
