Hi Guys, mine is a crank start only, with the extended tool box. The crank sits in to a square tube welded beneath the steering column so is at the top of the tool box. Slides down there nicely. Supposed to have a clip to stop it swinging around, but my clip is missing.

Hope that helps,
Rex

We keep ours under the seat cushion. I think the very early ones with no electrics had a bracket where the battery box is But I'm not positive. Mike

I don't think there was a factory location to store it.
Most left it in the barn with the electric start models.
Some say it will fit in the tool box but I never tried.
