my cam gear has a single (chisel type) mark & a 2 dot center punch-like marks. crank gear has single chisel-like mark. when lining up the crank with the chisel-like mark on cam, #4cylinder appears to be in firing position. when using the 2 dot mark #1 appears to be in the firing position. however the marks are 1 tooth off from being 190 degrees apart. which are the correct marks to line up? any help is appreciated.

Timing of these gears is accomplished by matching marks. On one gear, there will be two similar marks on adjacent teeth. On the other gear, there will only be one of these marks - all three should be the same shape. The single marked tooth should be placed in between the two adjacent marked teeth. The gears may need cleaning to find the marks.
