i have a d17 ser3 idels ok but when you try to work it it wants to sputter and cut out dont know

Hey phil;

My d-17 had that problem. Problem was tha wire from the coil had a real bad connection on the ignition switch. I got a gas engines, 226. eplaced the end terminal with a new one,a nd never again.

Weak spark will cause that. Might need new plugs and points.

Carb clogged or set wrong, fuel line clogged some place or a clog in the tank. What happens if you choke it does it help or hurt?? If it helps then you need to check fuel flow at the carb by removing the drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow there. If you do then its probably a carb problem and it need to be rebuilt

yes when i choke it will smooth out for alittle while then act up again ill take a look at that thanks for your help also it seems to do it when you are going up hill

fuel delivery. its not getting enough under a load and is at idle.
