M100 Series B Grader

We have an old Allis M100-B that blew a chain on one of the drives. We have a new chain, but we are having a tough time figuring out the adjustment setup. The picture we have from the dealer is very poor and hard to see.

Does anyone have any good picture of the drive setup? How to adjust the chain? How to get the dang thing on even? Heavy chain + tight quarters = lots of fun. Or does anyone know where we could find a service manual for this beast yet?

The grader is awesome. It runs great, everything works, it has a side snow plow, and lots of power. Just need to get this drive going again.

Thanks!

I am not familiar with that model grader but I suspect that it might be similar to my Model D grader. There is no adjustment on my machine. You simply wrap the chain over the sprockets and insert the master link. Yeh right. It is a fight with a new chain and I think that I may have put the two ends on adjacent teeth of the driven sprocket and with a screw driver I was able to force them close enough together to get the master link started. I was working alone and that may not have helped. Of course with everything covered in oil it was a dirty messy job. There was also lots of cursing involved.

It looks like there is some sort of adjustment there, but it also looks like the bolts would not line up after. This is a horrible job. Since you have experience, want to come help? Thanks for the reply!

Use a larger wire-tie. Loop the wire-tie through the roller, pull hard until the master link can be installed. Then cut the wire-tie.
