I need to remove the air cells in a WD45 Diesel head to repair cracks. The URL below shows a good technique.

But I first need to remove the plug in the end of the air cell and mine are very rusty. Do these plugs screw into the threads in the end of the air cell or are they just sitting in the end (or in my case rusted in the end) of the air cell? Hope some experienced WD45 Diesel guy can help me out.
