: I have reassembled my '39 WC and cannot get it running. : How do I check the mag for a spark? : Where is # 1 plug. From the manual it seems it should be at the 5 O'clock position with # 2 at the 7 O'clock position etc.. Is that right? : I had to replace the # 4 piston and may have the bearing a bit tight as the starter will barely turn it over. Cranking is out. : Before I started restoration it did start by pulling but soon broke a valve and ruined the piston!!!! This makes me think the mag is ok. : I'm having a good time anyway!!!! : Thanks Don Looking at the cap end of your mag the number one plug terminal will be at 10 o'clock. The firing order is 1243.You should be able to pull one of the plug wires and hold it a short distance from the block, turn the engine over and you should see a spark jump the gap.You may have to turn the engine over several times to make sure the rotor passes the wire that you have pulled.Hope this helps.
