A D-17 with a D-19 motor | I purchased the Allis Chalmers D-17 that my grandfather had used on his farm untill he decided to replace it with a 4 wheel drive John Deere 5400. I bought the tractor because I didnt want it to get out of the family, as it was the tractor that my mom grew up on. Once I got it home, me and my other grandfather began to restore it. We soon discovered that it had a cracked head, wich meant alot of money to get a new one. So we located a 6 cylinder gas motor that was installed in a D-19, and we were told that with a few adjustments, it would bolt right in. I now own the only 6 cylinder gas D-17 that I am aware of. I have not found any other D-17's like this, and if any one knows were there is one please contact me. I need to know a way to hook up a few wires, the choke, and throtle cable. The only problem with this tractor is that it burns lots of gas! Mike Truster, OH, entered 2000-04-07 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
