Bringing an 8N back to life | My brother and I were cutting wood for the paper industry in Wisconsin and needed something to pull the logs out of the woods. Our Alice B was not doing a good job, so Dad bought an 8N from a local farmer in '65 or '66. It worked far better than the B. My brother and I used the 8N for logging for several years. My father kept the 8N around after we had moved on to other pursuits, mostly for hauling firewood and giving the grandkids rides on his trailer. When Dad passed away in 2010 my mother gave me the 8N. I have begun bringing the 8N back to life, as it had not been cared for all that well and had seem some rough use. Still, it has been in the family for more than 45 years, and my kids and the other grandkids have fond memories of riding behind 'grandpa's tractor.' It will be worth the time, effort, and cost to bring it back to respectable shape. After all, its is virtually a family member! AppleAttic, CO, entered 2012-12-20 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
