Plowing Contest | IN 1958, WHEN I WAS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL IN SOUTHERN OHIO, THERE WAS A 'WORLD PLOWING CONTEST' IN PEEBLES OHIO. IT, S BEEN A LONG TIME AND DETAILS ARE SCHETCHY, BUT AS I REMEMBER, FOLKS CAME IN FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, AND MABY FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD, BECAUSE IT WAS CALLED, WORLD PLOWING CONTEST. SOME OF MY CLASSMATES AND MYSELF WERE PERMITTED TO GO TO PEEBLES EVERY DAY FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND PULL SPECATORS AROUND ON FARM WAGONS TO WATCH THE COMPETITION. ALL NEW TRACTORS OF ALL DIFFERENT MAKES. FIRST TIME I HAD EVER SEEN A COCKSHUTT. I STILL HAVE THE T-SHIRT WITH THE WORLD PLOWING CONTEST IMPRINTED ON IT THAT ALL THE DRIVERS WERE GIVEN. IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE REMEMBERS THIS EVENT, PLEASE RESPOND. I WULD LIKE O HEAR FROM YOU. FRANK HUTCISON, TX, entered 2002-12-31 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
