My Life

The first thing I remember is I am in a large building with many others like me. They pull me outside and leave me in the hot sun for several days. Then one day a man jumps into my seat, and I am loaded onto a big train car. After many days of rocking back and forth I am unloaded and parked in a line on hard rock. On one side of me are tractors bigger than me and on the other side are one's that are smaller. The bigger ones start making fun of us, the smallest one is givin the nick name of baby. One day a man looks at all of us. He stops in front of me, kicks my tires[ouch] and tells someone "I will take this one". The next day I arrive at the farm. My new owner says "Bessey, time to go to work. " He worked me hard all day for many years, cussing me out for not pulling the heavy loads that he thought I should. Then one day my owner failed to show up. I sat out in the cold, the rain and hot sun for many years until one day a strange man walked up to me and said "Bessey, you are mine now. " [How did he know my name. ] The next day he loads me onto a trailer. After many hours I am unloaded and put into nice warm shed. He tells me I will be like new again when he is done fixing me. I began to look around and I spot a familiar face - my old friend baby is sitting behind me. He tells me that my days of hard work are over. All we have to do now is show off in front of lots of people and pull a light wagon once in awhile. I think I am going to enjoy my retirement, espically sitting in this nice warm shed all winter.

Today's Featured Article - It's Alright Where It Is! - by Anthony West. I have a tale of a different kind to tell. Whilst rooting in the hedge bottoms this week I had cause to visit Chapel lane Farm, the home of an eccentric gentleman by the name of Austin Kendall. I had heard rumours that an old Case Model C was languishing away in the back of one of the outbuildings there. So off I went in search of what would turn out to be a very rare and unusual tractor. Mr Kendall is an excitable chap to say the least. He is amongst the last of a dying breed of farmer who ... [Read Article]
