Having recently purchased a Ford Jubilee, I was in trepidation when I needed someone to look at a problem that developed with the starter. To my delight and extreme good fortune, I was told about a 69 yr. old gentleman who goes by the name Archie. He came to my farm and looked things over, then started trying things. As I watched, this old timer showed a lot of experience in dealing with troubled tractors. I learned as he went along, asked a lot of questions, and was amazed that he found I needed a new plug on # 1 cylinder. I marvelled at the 'compression' test he did with his finger in one of the empty spark plug holes. I guess that's the old fashioned way of doing it. Eventually Archie got to the starter and determined the starter drive needed replacing, which he did the next day. When finished, I asked 'how much do I owe you for your work'? 35 dollars he replied and I gave him 50 dollars because I was so happy to find him. The tractor is a gem and purrs like it was new, with lots of power. They don't make mechanics like that or tractors like this any more. JD Joe Deibel, VA, entered 2004-05-17
