The Fera Flora Plant

My brothers and I used to go out to grandpa's durring the summer months to help out. We were mostly thinking of the fun of hunting night crawlers with a flashlight and then going fishin in the morning after having grandpa's world famos buckwheat pancakes. One summer I was staying with grandpa and we were having our 10 am break, sorgum on wheat bread on a paper plate whith cream on top. Love that stuff. After break we went back to the shop and a guy came in to get his radio for his tractor. Grandpa was the local radio, TV, small engine, anything he can get his hands on repair guy. The gentleman asked if grandpa had any more of the 'fera flora plants' and that the last one had grown too big and broke off. At least that is what the mans wife had told him. They started laughing I think I even saw a tear or two because they were laughing so hard. So grandpa reached over to the window and gave the man another one of these little clay flower pots with sand and a little black nub in the middle. He told the man to let his wife know that she was watering it too much. The man gave him a dollar for the plant and then payed for the radio repairs and left. I did not know at the time what a fera flora plant was but later found out the truth behind the misterios plant. Grandpa also was the sawblade sharpening guy for the area. He even did the blades that people brought to the local hardware store. Well under his grinder that he used to sharpen blades the grindings would pile up and make this stalagtite looking thing made of metal grindings, fera. He would take them and put them in little pots, flora, and sell them to the male customers for their wives. He would tell them to pull them up a tiny bit every now and then and let the lady of the house know not to water it too much. He would get coments from ladies in town on how their fera flora plants were doing and he would chuckle to himself and now I know why. So if anyone knows someone around the Lakeville MN area that has one of these rare fera flora plants you too can join grandpa in a chuckle.
