Someone on another site was talking about a scrap man wanting to buy his running tractor.Hey, that reminds me of another Z scrap story. This was around 15 years ago in eastern Ohio. We were a MM turned White dealer back then. My friend was a Ford tractor dealer. It was a winter, bitter cold spell. (like minus 20, highs still below 0. He and his crew were all working inside and this scraper comes up driving a pickup truck, no trailer and wants to buy scrap. He told him that there was the old locked up MM Z out there he would sell for 50 as is where is. The guy would have to load it himself, etc. My friend expected him to go away, buy instead this guy pulls out 50 and gives him. My friend said that the MM was his and that they would hold it until he came back to get it. The guy says, I'm here and taking it now. That had everyone's attention at the shop. The empolyees all scraped ice off the windows and watched as the guy backed up to the Z, got out and grabed a sled hammer from the back of his truck and started wailing away. Chunk by chunk he dismantled the tractor and threw the pieces in his truck.
