Our Farmall A tractor

My dad is now a little over 80 years of age and he has a Farmall 'A' tractor that his father bought new in 1939 or 1940. It was the first Farmall 'A' tractor that Mascoutah Equipment sold (located in Mascoutah IL.). My dad and his three brothers use to take turns plowing with it and a one bottom plow to get all the plowing they could get done in a day's time. Well my dad and the tractor are still together yet and still on the same farm in Shiloh Illinois. It's in our family for 5 generations now. I grew up with it my self and when I was about 12 my dad purchased a belly mower for it so we could use it to mow the peach orchards. The rubber on the steering wheel is about all gone, it just sits in the shed now and last year I went to move it and it started right up but the steering was beginning to lock up. It has no starter, just a hand crank. I drove it to High School one winter morning with me wrapped in a blanket. I was driving it to the school's shop where I overhauled it in 1978. When I was only about 7 my older brother and I would sit on this tractor and play like we were driving it to our cousins house miles away, and we never moved an inch. I can't imagine how may hours I have spent on this tractor.
