I am 57 years old and grew up working on ou family Farm called Tongwell Farm near Newport Pagnell in Buckinghamshire. The farm is now part of the Milton Keynes new city and I have moved on to new fields in Australia. I just wanted to see if any of you can remember what I think was a Fordson Major that my father had on our farm. I remember vividly that whilst it had a handle at the front it was always started from cold using a cartridge place in a capsule and screwed by hand into the side of the engine. I remember my father belting the capsule with a wrench and a loud bang ensued before the engine started up. Very nice to see a job well done. I have just aquired a 1956 Fordson major, all it needed was a starter motor and it started up like a sewing machine. But I need some head light glass. Although the headlights work perfectly well the glass is broken in both of them. I there is any out there please let me know.
