In my soils in my climate in my local neighborhood, some types of Pioneer corn +always+ do that....
while again in my conditions, another brand of corn I'll wreck the picker trying to get the ears yanked off the stalk....
And then if we take those same 2 types of corn to your field, the opposite will happen, the tough corn I have will fall over on you, while the Pioneer might stand like oak trees....
So, you need to try different maturities and brands of corn to find what works in your type of soil and conditions.
It's a learning process.
I have peat ground in some areas, you really gotta watch what type of corn and beans you put on that ground, will preform totally opposite of what it does on other types of ground...
