: A while back there was some discussion about the use of a bush hog on a Super A . If any of you guys are running a bush hog on a Super A I have a question for you . How do you deal with the high off-center PTO shaft of the Super A. Is this a problem or will universal joints handle this much offset ?

John:
I've been using my Super A with a 4 ft bush hog and I have not found the high offset PTO to be a problem. But,I do have 3 pt hitch on the tractor so that keeps the PTO shaft from swinging when making a turn. Everything seems to work fine and it has plenty of power (I don't have any direct experience with the "trailer" type of bush hog, but I believe I've seen some companies liturature indicating that their trailer type bush hogs fit a Super A and that would seem to say that the high offset PTO shouldn't be to much of a design or operational problem )

Pete

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects. ... [Read Article]
