Definitely get the medical attention immediately, needed to determine if there are any problems, one of those things one should not put off.
I wear safety glasses and hearing protection quite a bit, and sometimes I forget I have the ear plugs in, was airing up a hand truck tire and it blew, could have broke an ear drum, it sounded loud with them in, I was thankful for being disciplined enough and making a habit of wearing safety apparel.
While doing firewood a few weeks back, I had the logs in the loader bucket to make them easy to lift to the splitter. I had bought a new tool for handling the logs or blocks as some call them once bucked. Its some sort of of heavy and maybe solid hose, Bailey's sells them and its apparently named after someone, likely the inventor, on the ends of the hose are hooks. The tool is awesome, for larger blocks, makes them so easy to handle and reduces how far you have to bend down, and provides a nice handle, you do have to cut accurate lengths, well within a few inches. Being new to the tool, I started using it from the bucket, not realizing a few things, it was at face height and there is a certain way to hook the log and or way to use the tool, well the forward hook, did not seat and came off and whacked me square in the eye or just above it, the point thankfully can't really get you was just the radius of the back of it, it would have opened me up above the eye, but the safety glasses took all of the brunt. I learned a few things, never work at face height with the tool, lower the bucket. It reinforced the rules for this tool, always take your time, hook it right, don't carry over your feet, and most likely I'll never really need to use it from the bucket to the splitter any way, just to load the bucket. Always something new or unique seems to be when these things happen or being in a "hurry". Now I'm a firm believer in both the safety glasses and a face shield, that darned thing could have hit above or below the glasses and hurt like heck, besides the narrowly missed sutures that would have likely been required.
When charging 12V batteries, airing up tires, I wear the plugs and the safety glasses, those ear plugs are always in a round plastic case in my left pocket.
Went to a concert with some friends, of the loud genre, queensryche, to most thats just noise, but there is sort of a theatrical aspect of it, and or some of the tunes I did like, and of course I'm not a metal head, like all kinds of music and enjoy most no matter what, I went along, good show, but we were in the front row, way too loud and I had no ear plugs. In that situation you can sort of adjust them to take the excess DB, but still listen and enjoy the show. It sounds foolish, who goes to a show and wears earplugs, ME ! Just dampens the sound if too loud and your ears don't ring, mine did for days after that show and ever since I am never without a pair in my pocket.
