1, Take out the Plug 2, remove valve pan cover 3, turn engine (clockwise) by Hand till it comes up on compression stroke 4, then keep turning so the piston drops 1/4 " past top dead center
5, Adjust both valves to 0.04
many vids out there , but I don't agree with them.
some or most will say just open the exhaust valve first and adjust intake, the turn engine so the intake is open and adjust the exhaust ?? My theory is If the exhaust valve was too loose when any adjustment was made,then the setting for the intake would be off Although this is for a Briggs,adjustments should be the same .Both have ARC (Automatic Compression Realeases)

Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
