Fire as in power to the points means nothing if the points are corroded from sitting that long. #1 make sure you have spark at the center wire of the cap. Needs to be a blue/white color and jump a 1/4 inch gap. If no spark there take the cap rotor and dust cover off and carefully open and close the points by hand. If you can both hear and see spark there but did not have spark from the coil wire the cap or rotor is bad is no spark at the point then the points need cleaned or replaced
