Never worked for WalMart (Thank God) but I worked in the parts business years ago. Most of those Deere's And Gravely's took a battery classification group 22NF which appears to be an automotive battery but has on average 300 CCA's and a 12 month pro-rate warranty. Most retailers stock a similar size battery but it typically will have near 500 CCA and a 36 or 48 month warranty. Then in nearly the same size package will be a battery well in excess of 500 CCA's and will have a 60 month warranty. Both true automotive batteries having a pro-rate warranty. Usually, there will be visible nomenclature saying what classification the battery in question is. Again, I am no fan of WalMart but unless you know better you may have had the lawn tractor class battery to start with (no pun intended).

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
