Today we went to get an old John Deere 227 Corn-picker. It had been sitting in the barn for quite some time. The Support bars had sunk into the dirt pretty far! It was a bear to load too! We ended up pulling it out with a tractor, using boards to skid it across the ground. Then we moved the trailer over so we could wench it on. We didn"t want to use the forks on the loader because we thought it might be too heavy for the metal underneath and cause it to bend. It took us over 4 hours to dig it out and get it pulled back and then loaded into the trailer.
The cows were curious as to what was going on, so they came over for a looks see
We then strapped her down and hit the road. Well, we didn"t get far, as the left wheel was loose and it wore the bolts and caused the wheel to fly off.
By the way this trailer isn"t mine, it belongs to the guy who got this picker in a job and then sold it to me. He was driving and pulling the trailer, as we followed. One thing he said before anything was even loaded was "I hope this trailer makes it to your house. Not to sure on the wheels and bearings." Because he said that I had a feeling that something would go wrong, and, well it did. Oh well thats how it goes I guess. The guy who owns the trailer will get it fixed and bring everything by tomorrow evening.
I took us a lot longer to load this then we figured. I sure am beat!
