The Montana tractor started out being made by Kukje Machinery of south Korea. It was the same tractor as: Century sold through the old Zetor distributor American Jawa ( legal fight between them and the manufacture) Branson was another name plate. Kukje Machinery bought the Branson Company a few years ago. Kukje/Branson and Montana where working on a merger. That fell through and Montana bought Farmtrac.
LS (South Korea)company make the majority of the tractors for Montana. LS tractors have been sold under GoldStar, Fiat-GoldStar, LG, LG-Fiat, LG-New Holland, LS and LS-New Holland names in South Korea. In North America, they have been sold as LG Montana, Montana, Farmtrac LandTrac, LongAgri LandTrac, McCormick Tractors and Landini.
In April 2004, Charlie Goforth, Dan Downing, and the late J.B. Hunt. Started the Montana Company. I think it was JB Hunt being bored with not running a company that got them going.
It is confusing as to who builds what for Montana. They are just a distributer for tractors/implements they have built for them. NONE OF the tractors are built in North America.
I would worry about how long parts and such will be available for their many different models. They have handle three different manufacture"s tractor already. SO ten years down the road what tractor maker will they be selling then?????? Myself I would rather buy a main line tractor used rather than a cheap imported tractor. You are more assured of parts availability and resale value.
