I've hauled a lot of tractors for a lot of guys I didn't know. Went all the way from Milwaukee, WI to Sidney Montana to pick one up and deliver to the Twin Cities. As a hauler, my deal was simple: I'll arrange the pickup with the seller prior to going, and upon delivery, I get paid BEFORE your tractor even gets unchained. If you don't pay me, I'M KEEPING YOUR TRACTOR , plain and simple. It's always worked for me. I've been offered a deposit many times and always refused, mostly because if something were to happen that I couldn't fulfill the obligation, I didn't want the customer to worry about getting his deposit back, and an accounting hassle for me. If I wound up with an extra tractor for my troubles, that wouldn't be the end of the world either LOL
