That is the best thing I did for my winch. I can take it off and store in the shop. I can use it on the pickup, tractor or just chained to anything. I welded a battery holder on the front of the trailer and also have a 25ft set of jumper cables. The cables have come in handy for other things also. About a year ago I bought the wireless remote which is priceless when loading or unloading by yourself.
I have loaded some tremendous loads and have never experienced any problems with the pin in the receiver. I did have a problem unloading a newly painted car I am restoring. I forgot to put the pin in and it unloaded real fast and removed the posts off the battery. Not real funny at the time. No real damage to the car but just missed doing some real damage.
