Well from what i was told by the people at Dexter there trailer brakes were made to SLOW YOU DOWN and not do all the stopping . As i had a problem one time and i was close to the factory with my truck and trailer and went in to talk to someone about the problems i was having , the next thing i knew they had me back my truck and trailer into there service bay and THEy went to work on it and they replaced everything and when i asked how much they told me N/C as there were some problems with the brakes that were on my trailer and that there was a recall and mine was never done . The head service manager for Dexter told me that the electric brake was NOT designed to totally stop you but to slow you down and the tow vehicle was what was to do the stopping. He told me that if you want stopping power then ya need to go to the Vac Hyd. or air brake systems .
