I plant in a solo cup with good potting soil (punch a few small holes in the bottom) water daily...The first 2 are 3 days they will welt bad but perk up and take off... keep them in the shade a few weeks and then set...
I pick a spot were they will get 9/10 hours of sunlight a day NO MORE.... Better Boys work the best for me...
I try and pick a day to plant were its going to be cloudy are rain if not I will partly shade the plant... Good luck mine are doing great,,, I try and get them set by the end of the first week of July if I am later I will not harvest any ripe fruit... Mine have buds on them right now so I think by mid sept. I will have fruit... The only reason I plant them is to have a good matter to enter into the county fair I have won first place quite a few times... I have had the best looking ripe mater tho samll and lost to a great big green mater  I have also lost to a big ripe mater that was rotten on the back side  I go for size now  The city slickers that judge have no I.D. what a good mater is spose to look like
