We have a 50 gal electric. 96% efficiency. Power company gave a $300 re ate. Water heater cost me $330 5 years ago. I installed it myself...had less than $50 invested. Only time our family of six loses hot water is when they don't get out of the shower when told and I go down and shut the valve off. That gets them out on a hurry! Can't give a comparison to gas as all we have ever had is electric.
