I don;t know how things work in your neck of the woods but in MN. If the local gov. has not taken over the road it is not legal for them to maintane a road and they can be charged with trespassing if they do. The locall school dist will not pickup kids from a private rd. and the us mail will not deliver on it. This I know from being a Township road superviser for six yrs.
