I use an $80 Remmington electric pole saw too. It works very well but has a limited reach compared to a longer manual pole saw. The electric saw in the head is light weight, but it is still heavy enough that I would not want it to extend out any further. I adapted the long handle from the Remmington electric to also hold a Black and Decker electric hedge trimmer. That combination works well for trimming and shaping tall, wide bushes.
Gas powered pole saws are easier to handle as the power head is low so its weight acts as a counterbalance to the long pole length. I would try to rent a gas pole saw before spending a lot of money on one, but they do seem to hold their resale value pretty well.
For a one time job consider hiring someone with the proper equipment, you can always do the cleanup and hauling yourself if you need to reduce the cost.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
