Cheated! You took in a broken one! I would much rather have an older refurbished one than a new one. I love my older (30-40 year old) Craftsman tools, especially where it says made in USA, and someplace in Ohio, not usa japan! Many of my power tools are old enough to have rubber cords with 3 prong plugs!
